Paul Sarossy was born in Barrie, Ontario, Canada in 1963. He studied film at York University, Toronto, and he has since built a formidable reputation as an award-winning cinematographer, having shot over 30 feature films between 1986 and the present day.
He now lives in London and continues to work on both sides of the Atlantic. Sarossy has collaborated on critically acclaimed films both in the U.S. and Canada with award-winning directors such as Atom Egoyan, Paul Schrader, Denys Arcand, Norman Jewison, John Duigan, Charles Martin Smith, Bruce Paltrow and Glenn Gordon Caron.
Since meeting at film school in Canada, Sarossy has formed a very successful partnership with director Atom Egoyan. Their collaborations include the winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes (1997) and twice Oscar-nominated The Sweet Hereafter with Ian Holm and Sarah Polley, Exotica with Bruce Greenwood and Felicia's Journey with Bob Hoskins.
Another double Oscar-nominated project was Affliction (starring Nick Nolte and Willem Dafoe) which teamed Sarossy with screenwriter/director Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, American Gigolo, Mishima). Sarossy is also the recipient of four Canadian Genie Awards - for his work on Exotica, The Sweet Hereafte, Felicia's Journey and Perfect Pie. Other notable features include Krapp's Last Tape (with John Hurt, directed by Atom Egoyan), Duets (with Gwynneth Paltrow, directed by Bruce Paltrow), Picture Perfect (with Jennifer Aniston, directed by Glenn Gordon Caron) and Love and Human Remains (with Thomas Gibson, directed by Denys Arcand).
Mr In-Between is Paul's directorial debut.
